CDFR 425 Adolescence: Risk & Resiliency - Infographic Presentation
Students choose a target audience (i.e., parents, youth, or professionals working with youth) and create an infographic that appeals to their target audience and provides useful information. They then present their work in class.
"Did you know that shows and movies that have been produced in the last eight years show multiple examples of family resilience? Shows such as, Netflix’s Atypical or Grey’s Anatomy, have shown that when families are faced with challenges, they are able to surpass it. The portrayal of family resilience in the media, follows the same conclusions that research studies have shown on family resilience." (405 characters)
Kristen Casella Fall 18 Social Media Post
"Many affordable [quality early care] and after school programs exist today thanks to the Child Care and Development Fund enacted in 1990 and most recently renewed in 2014. It helps families pay for the care they need while working, training for work, or getting an education. This program helps change the lives of many families and helps better set up their children for the future." (397 characters)

CDFR 323 Family Issues - Social Media Post and Discussion
Students analyze media portrayals of families and the impact of US policies on families in this course. At the end of the semester they create a social media post to draw attention to either their policy or media analysis. The students bring their media or policy analysis to class along with their social media post. Classmates choose a post that interests them, read the more in-depth analysis and then comment on the post.
